Teeth whitening in Abdoun, Amman

A brighter smile, planned by your dentist

Choose the way that suits you: Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed in our clinic, finished in one visit, or Opalescence 35% gel at home, in trays made just for your teeth. Both start with a check-up, and both are designed to keep sensitivity low.

  • Check-up before every whitening
  • Sensitivity care built in
  • Philips and Ultradent products

From your shade to your brightest

Your starting shadeBrighter

Philips Zoom: up to 8 shades lighter in about 45 minutes of whitening, according to Philips.[3]

Opalescence 35%: gradual whitening at home, 30 to 60 minutes a day.[5]

Illustration only. Your result depends on your natural tooth colour and the type of staining, so no dentist can promise an exact number of shades.

Your two options

Two proven ways to whiten

Both use a peroxide gel that lightens the natural colour of your teeth. The difference is where you whiten, how long it takes, and who applies the gel.

Why see a dentist for whitening

Whitening that starts with healthy teeth

Shop kits and beauty-salon treatments skip the most important step: making sure your teeth and gums are ready. With us, care is part of every stage.

A check-up first

We look for cavities, leaking fillings and gum problems first. Whitening doesn’t fix them, so they need treating before you start.[9] A clean also removes surface stains so the gel works evenly.

Strong gel, used safely

Professional gels are stronger than shop products. That’s why we protect your gums and lips and control exactly where the gel goes.

Made for your mouth

Home trays are made from the shape of your own teeth. A close fit keeps the gel on your teeth and off your gums.[5]

Comfort is part of the plan

Both systems include ingredients that help with sensitivity, and we adjust your plan if your teeth react.[4][5]

How whitening works. The peroxide gel releases oxygen that breaks up the stain molecules inside the tooth, so the whole tooth looks lighter.[5] Whitening toothpastes, by contrast, mainly polish away surface stains.[8]

In the clinic

Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed

Our fastest option. Everything happens in one visit, with about 45 minutes of whitening in the chair, so you leave with a brighter smile the same day.[1][3]

Your visit, step by step

  1. 1

    Check and protect

We record your starting shade, then cover your lips and gums so only your teeth are showing.

  2. 2

    Apply the gel

Your dentist paints the whitening gel onto the front surfaces of your teeth.

  3. 3

    Switch on the blue light

The WhiteSpeed LED lamp shines on the gel, usually in three 15-minute rounds with fresh gel each time.[1] You can relax, listen to music or rest.

  4. 4

Soothe and see your new shade

We rinse, compare your new shade with your starting shade, and can apply Relief ACP, a gel that helps calm sensitive teeth.[3][4]

The technology, simply explained

The gel

25% hydrogen peroxide. A professional-strength gel that only the dental team uses, here in the clinic.[2]

The light

WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp. Philips designed it to work with its own gel. Its brightness can be set higher or lower for your comfort.[1]

The comfort gel

Relief ACP. Potassium nitrate calms the tooth’s nerve, while calcium phosphate and fluoride help seal the tiny channels in the tooth that carry sensitivity.[4]

At home

Opalescence PF 35% home whitening

Whiten in your own time with a professional gel from Ultradent and trays made from the shape of your teeth. Each session takes just 30 to 60 minutes.[5]

How home whitening works

  1. 1

    We make your trays

We take a scan or mould of your teeth and make thin, comfortable trays that fit only you.

  2. 2

    We show you the routine

You’ll learn how much gel to use: a thin line along the front of each tray, about a third to half a syringe.[5]

  3. 3

Wear them 30 to 60 minutes a day

Brush, put the trays in and relax. Don’t eat or drink while wearing them. Afterwards, brush away any leftover gel and rinse the trays with cool water.[5]

  4. 4

    Check-in, and top-ups later

We check your progress. Keep your trays: in the future you only need a gel refill for a quick top-up.

Short daytime sessions only. Don’t sleep in your trays with 35% gel. Follow the wear time your dentist writes down for you.[5][6]

The technology, simply explained

The gel

35% carbamide peroxide. It slowly releases its whitening ingredient, hydrogen peroxide (about 12%), while you wear the tray.[5]

The “PF” formula

P is potassium nitrate, which helps calm sensitive teeth. F is fluoride, which helps strengthen enamel.[5]

The trays

Custom-made for you. Thin trays made from your own teeth keep the gel exactly where it should be, unlike one-size kits.[5]

Compare

Zoom or home whitening?

Both work well. Large research reviews found similar overall results from dentist-supervised clinic whitening and home whitening.[12][13] So the best choice comes down to speed, comfort and lifestyle.

Help me choose

Which option suits you?

Answer four quick questions. This is a friendly guide, not a diagnosis: your dentist will confirm the right plan after checking your teeth.

1How soon would you like to see your new shade?

2Where would you rather whiten?

3Do your teeth often feel sensitive to cold?

4Do you have crowns, veneers or fillings on your front teeth?

Your suggestion

Compare your answers with the table above, or ask us at your consultation.

Answer questions 1 and 2 to see which option may suit you.

Philips Zoom may suit you best

You’d like quick results and prefer the dental team to do the work. Zoom whitens in one visit, so it’s ideal before an event.

Read about Zoom

Opalescence home whitening may suit you best

You’re happy to whiten gradually, on your own schedule. Custom trays also make future top-ups easy.

Read about home whitening

Either option could work, or both together

You’d like quick results but also like the idea of whitening at home, or the other way round. Some patients start with Zoom, then keep home trays for top-ups.

Compare the two

Tell us about your sensitivity

We can lower the Zoom light, use a comfort gel, shorten home sessions, or suggest a gentler home gel.

Crowns, veneers and fillings don’t whiten

We’ll show you how they may look next to your whitened teeth, and plan any replacements for afterwards.

This is a guide, not medical advice. Your dentist will confirm the right option after checking your teeth.

Other whitening options

How professional whitening compares

Many whitening products work to some degree.[7] The difference is safety, fit, and how much care you get along the way.

Some shop products can also whiten, and no single brand suits everyone.[7] The American Dental Association has raised concerns about whitening done outside dental settings, such as salons and malls, where product safety and staff training can’t be guaranteed.[14]

Tap a card to see the truth

Six things patients often hear about whitening, and what the evidence actually says.

Myth“Whitening damages your enamel.”Tap to see the fact
Fact

Used as directed after a dental check, peroxide whitening is a well-established treatment for healthy teeth. Overuse is what can harm enamel and gums, so follow your dentist’s plan.[8]

Myth“Whitening toothpaste does the same job.”Tap to see the fact
Fact

Whitening toothpastes mainly polish off surface stains. Peroxide gels lighten the colour of the tooth itself.[8]

Myth“Crowns and veneers whiten too.”Tap to see the fact

Only natural teeth get lighter. Crowns, veneers and fillings stay the same shade.[3][8]

Myth“A stronger gel always means whiter teeth.”Tap to see the fact

A higher strength doesn’t guarantee a whiter final shade, and it can mean more sensitivity. The right strength is the one that suits your teeth.[7]

Myth“Whitening results are permanent.”Tap to see the fact

Teeth slowly pick up stains again from coffee, tea and smoking. Many people do a short top-up once or twice a year.[3]

Myth“Sensitivity means whitening is harming my teeth.”Tap to see the fact

Short-lived sensitivity is the most common side effect and usually settles once whitening ends. Tell us if it happens, and we’ll adjust your plan.[5][7]

Questions

Questions patients ask about whitening

Is professional whitening safe for my teeth?

Yes, for healthy teeth, when it is planned by a dentist and used as directed. The most common side effects are temporary sensitivity and mild gum irritation, which usually settle after whitening ends.[7][8] A check-up first makes sure there’s no decay or gum problem that needs treating.[9]

Will my teeth be sensitive?

Some people feel short, sharp twinges during or after whitening. With Zoom we can lower the light intensity and use Relief ACP gel.[1][4] Opalescence contains potassium nitrate and fluoride.[5] At home, if sensitivity is more than mild, stop and call us: we can space out sessions, shorten wear time or add a desensitising gel.[5]

What does “35%” mean? Can I wear the trays overnight?

It means 35% carbamide peroxide, which slowly releases hydrogen peroxide (about 12%). It is not 35% hydrogen peroxide. This strength is made for short daytime sessions of 30 to 60 minutes. Don’t sleep in your trays with 35% gel.[5][6]

Does the blue light make a difference?

Philips designed the WhiteSpeed light to work with its own gel.[1] Independent research reviews, however, haven’t found a consistent extra whitening benefit from adding a light to in-clinic whitening.[11] The real advantage of Zoom is that your whitening is finished in one visit, applied and watched over by your dental team.

How white will my teeth get?

It depends on your natural colour and the type of staining. Yellowish stains from age, food and drinks usually respond well. Greyish or deep stains, such as those from some antibiotics, may need months of treatment or a different approach.[5][10] We’ll agree a realistic goal at your consultation.

How long will my results last?

Results can last a year or more.[5] Whitening isn’t permanent, though: coffee, tea, cola and smoking slowly bring stains back.[3][10] Many people do a short top-up with their trays once or twice a year.[3]

What about my crowns, veneers or fillings?

They keep their current colour, because whitening only lightens natural teeth.[3][8] If you’re planning new front fillings or veneers, we usually whiten first, then wait 7 to 10 days before bonding so they match your new shade.[5]

Can teenagers or children whiten their teeth?

Only after a dentist’s assessment. While a child still has a mix of baby and adult teeth, whitening can leave teeth in different shades, and colours change as new adult teeth come in.[10] Our pediatric dentists can advise on the right time and approach for your child.

Who should wait before whitening?

We postpone cosmetic whitening during pregnancy and breastfeeding.[3] Decay, gum disease, very sensitive teeth, or a history of allergies need checking first.[3][7] Your regular check-ups and cleanings can carry on as normal.

What should I avoid after whitening?

For the first day or two, go easy on strongly coloured food and drinks such as coffee, tea, cola and tomato sauce, and avoid smoking. Keep brushing and flossing as normal. We’ll give you a short aftercare guide on the day.

How do I look after my trays and gel?

Clean your trays with a soft toothbrush and cool water after each use, and keep them in their case.[5] Never use hot water, as it can bend them out of shape. Store the gel syringes somewhere cool, as the box advises, and out of children’s reach.
